Every registered domain name has at least two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a particular website hosting provider. This way, you have got both your website and your emails handled by the very same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter shows which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you type a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be forwarded to the servers of a different provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having different records for the website and the e-mails suggests that you could have your site and your e-mails with 2 different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux shared website hosting package that we offer, will enable you to see, modify and set up A and MX records for any domain or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you'll be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update isn't going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Creating new records is equally easy if, as an example, you wish to use the email services of another provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. You may also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you're going to be able to manage the records of your domains and subdomains easily even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

With the Linux semi-dedicated hosting that we provide, you're going to have total control over the records of all domains and subdomains that you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and changing any record requires as little as a couple of clicks. If you choose to switch your web or email hosting provider, you can update the required record and direct your domain to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still carry on using the other one through us. You may also keep the main domain here, while you modify the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you are modifying the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard two that we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for each and every one.
